Bio:  Vijay Kumar is a leader in the well-known GRASP Lab at UPenn (General Robotics, Automation, Sensing, and Perception), now also serving in the Office of Science and Technology Policy in the White House. Kumar's research focuses on swarms of small, autonomous, cooperative aerial robots (quadrotors), and he has recently achieved spectacular successes in coordinated actions. His recent TED talk describes the use of such robots for construction, disaster assessment, and search and rescue, among other applications.
