Abstract
The accuracy of indoor RF localization systems is typically limited by the bandwidth utilization of the wireless channel. This work introduces a simple transmit path modification for narrowband radios which enables ultra-wide bandwidth transmission through the addition of a 4 MHz CMOS oscillator and RF mixer. These minimal additional hardware requirements allow for sub-meter resolution in the reconstructed channel impulse response. This will enable the realization of an accurate indoor RF localization system without the need for a complex and dedicated UWB hardware.
