Abstract
We present the concept of "opportunistic localization", an approach where users opportunistically and anonymously subscribe to location information about themselves and their environment without subjecting themselves to tracking or surveillance. We leverage existing WiFi infrastructure and introduce a user-centric data store with anonymized rendezvous points. More broadly, this scheme is suitable to drive context-aware applications.
