Abstract
From autonomous driving to big data, from machine learning to cyber-physical systems, from robotics to the internet of everything, from brain-machine interfaces to the human intranet, innovation is moving at a pace that has never been seen before. To face the large investments and increasing global competition, mergers and acquisitions have sped up in all areas including the semiconductor industry that has been possibly the most decisive enabling factors of these disruptive technologies. The panel will address what are the structural factors to sustain innovations and what are the strategies that some of important actors in the industrial and research sector are embracing. The panel will also address the opportunities and difficulties of the different regions of the world in the changing social and economic landscape.
